‘SABUJ SATHI’ DISTRIBUTION JAM LOCKED SILIGURI, THE WHOLE DAY

Webdesk, TNI Kolkata, 25th January, 2016: The entire city was today jam locked, courtesy the miscommunication of the organizers in the distribution of “Sabuj Sathi” cycles to the Class 10, Class 11 & 12 of Siliguri city schools. According to the students, they were told the school authorities that they will be given the cycles today but at around 11 am they came to know that cycles will be given to them some days later. This enraged them and a scuffle resulted immediately. The student’s road blocked the main roads of Siliguri creating jams everywhere in Siliguri. The intensity of the jam reached even in the far Noukaghat more road towards NBMC&H stopping the emergency ambulances. Students protested mainly not because of the delay but to lose an important preparation day for the nearing exams like Madhyamik and Higher Secondary in February. Most of the Head Masters of the schools expressed their helplessness in the issue. Later police intervened and the blockades were removed by the students.
